A passport is a travel document that serves as the main proof of identity and citizenship. It is issued by every country to its citizens, including Nigeria. Nigerian passports are issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to eligible Nigerian citizens. They come in two sizes: jumbo (64 pages) for frequent travellers and regular (32 pages).
Yes, Nigerian citizens require a passport to exit and enter Nigeria as well as other countries around the world.
The different types of Nigerian passports are:
- Standard: For the public.
- Diplomatic: For government ambassadors and protocol officers within the government.
- Official: For government officials.
- Seamen: For sailors.
- Pilgrims’ Passport.

A Fresh passport is a new passport for someone who has never previously owned a Nigerian passport. Except for pilgrims’ passports, you can apply for a passport renewal when your current passport expires.
CSG provides standard passport services by assisting you in preparing and reviewing the necessary documentation. They oversee tasks such as application form completion, payment processing, document preparation, appointment booking, all prepared documents will be returned to you before your appointment date at the Ghana High Commission, London.

For submitting completed CSG Passport Application Packs, CSG recommends using reliable and traceable mail methods such as courier services (FedEx, DHL, UPS) or registered mail when submitting your application pack. You can also email PDF copies to passport@countyservicegroup.com
If your Nigerian passport was issued when you were 18 years or older, it is valid for ten (10) years. If it was issued when you were 17 years or younger, it is valid for five (5) years.
Yes, your old passport will be returned to you unless it is considered damaged by the NHC immigration team. The invalidity of the old passport will be clearly indicated, and you must advise if any valid visas remain in it before applying for renewal.
Most countries require a passport to be valid for at least six months beyond the completion of a trip. If your passport expires sooner than that, you should apply to renew it. Please refer to the Visas section and specific country requirements on our website. GPS can assist you with renewing an expiring passport.
